First, what is endometriosis (endo)? It is a long-term inflammatory condition, where deposits of tissue that are similar to the lining of the uterus are found outside of the uterus such as on the bowel, bladder or ovaries.

This can lead to pelvic pain particularly when having a period. Endo may cause symptoms such as pelvic pain, bloating, constipation or diarrhoea, and bladder problems such as difficulty or pain when doing a wee. These symptoms can also be seen in other conditions so it can be difficult to know whether you have endo, or something else. You may have a lot of symptoms or none - everyone is different.
