Our team would like to understand how living with diagnoses such as endometriosis, adenomyosis, persistent pelvic pain (e.g., vulvodynia, interstitial cystitis), and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) impact on a person’s overall level of emotional and physical wellbeing, their relationship with their body, and the level of sexual satisfaction they experience.

This project is being conducted by a team of researchers at the University of Tasmania, Deakin University, University of Adelaide, Western Sydney University, McMaster University (Canada), and the NECST Network. The project will aim to follow people across a series of time points to understand how effective different treatments (e.g., excision surgery, hormonal medications, physiotherapy, psychology) are in treating the symptoms associated with these diagnoses.

Who can participate?

Any person, assigned female at birth, aged 18 years or older, is invited to participate in this project via online surveys that are completed at a series of time intervals.

What does the research involve?

  • If you are interested in participating you can complete this expression of interest form (takes 2 mins). The expression of interest survey will ask for your name and an e-mail address.
  • This e-mail will be used to send you your unique survey link. You will receive a link to your unique survey 24 to 48 hours from the time of your initial expression of interest.
  • This survey link will allow you to complete a “Baseline” survey that asks you general information about yourself such as age, gender, and country of birth, and questions about your general physical and emotional health. You will also be asked questions about how you view your body and sexual intimacy.
  • Once you have completed the “Baseline” survey, we will e-mail you a link to follow-up surveys 3 months, 6 months, 12 months, and 18 months later. This will allow us to learn more about how health-related quality of life, body image, and sexual satisfaction vary over time.
