Alyra Biotech has developed a new intrauterine device (Alyra Device) to help people with difficult-to-manage period and pelvic pain, including people with endometriosis. Researchers including Principal Investigator, Professor Louise Hull, and a team of gynaecologists including Dr Tran Nguyen, Dr Sally Reid and Dr Rituparna Dutta, and the nursing team at PARC are conducing a trial of the device through the PARC Research Centre located within the Royal Adelaide Hospital. This study has ethics approval from CALHN.

Who can participate?

  • People (18 years and over).
  • Residing in Adelaide, South Australia.
  • Are affected by significant period pain.
  • Have had at least one child. 
  • Are not on any hormonal or opioid medications.

This research involves multiple trial phases so please complete the survey below, even if you haven’t had a baby to express your interest in participating in the trial.

What does the research involve?

  • One overnight stay and additional visits to PARC.
  • Insertion of an intrauterine device.
  • Recording your experience on a phone APP each day.
